Online bingo players looking to add a bit of spice into their online lives might want to consider a bit of Keno action on the side. As a complement to online bingo games, the ever popular Keno has no equal.
Recently I took a trip over to Windows Casino (Europe’s leading online casino) to see what they had to offer while taking a break between online bingo games. One of the first things you notice about Keno is how similar the ‘player’s mindset’ is to bingo. It’s about picking numbers and bingo players will already be armed with pretty powerful tools in the pattern recognition department.
Bingo has long been recognized as a game that promotes mental agility, a nimbleness of mind that keeps regular players working at their full brain-power capacity. The game promotes strong memory activity, a key feature in maintaining an active mind as we grow older.
Bingo and other related numbers games have even been used for educational purposes where they help stimulate mathematical thought processing and problem solving activities. In fact, the Dutch pioneered a version of bingo in its school systems almost two centuries ago.
Keno, though a different concept to bingo, is also a game strong on the use of numbers helping to promote the ability to recognize and utilize patterns, a key factor in problem solving challenges. Because of this I found it easy to synchronize into the Windows Online Casino‘s Keno game while playing bingo because the two games kept me locked into the numerical side of my brain.
What I found was that it was actually easier for me to maintain a bingo game while also keeping tabs on Keno. Many online bingo players seek to improve their chances at winning by playing multiple bingo games. Not all of us can do this, so I suggest maybe trying your luck at mixing bingo with Keno for a similar effect in enhancing your potential winnings.
In short, Keno is a numbers challenge just like bingo, but offers a change that amounts to something as good as a rest, as the old saying goes. It may be that, like me, you are a bingo player that is better suited to playing bingo and Keno together rather than stacking up on multiple bingo games.
In the end, it’s absolutely worth trying, so take a little detour to Windows Casino and hook up for some Keno action. They have a whole range of casino games over there, so either way you are going to find something that’s fun to do.

As we approach the end of the week, online bingo people are going to be very interested to see if anything develops in the WTO dispute in which the European online gambling industry is seeking compensation for the US’ decision to renege on its treaty obligations to operate fair and free markets.
Friday is the day the WTO has to decided on whether or not to pursue claims against the US which could see billions in compensation paid to Europe’s online gambling industry. A few online bingo games concerns may see some of this money – if it ever gets paid.
Of course, I’m assuming the US will loose its case and stump up with the money it owes. Many free online bingo operators burned by UIGEA last year would no doubt caution me against any assumptions when it comes to the US,… and they are probably right.
However, I’m going to shelve my usual cynical tendencies and go for the positive thought that justice may finally be served for all the damage US policy has caused to honest online bingo and online gaming businesses over the last year.

I am happy to see that the UK government has thrown its weight in behind the effort to get the US to see sense when it comes to online gambling. While the UK online bingo community enjoys one of the best regulated bingo online industries in the world, if not the best, it is still in our best interests that the US government changes its current policies on online gaming and moves towards a UK-style regulated solution.
Of course, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) which did so much damage to online bingo halls throughout Europe and world has now morphed into a full-blown trade dispute at the WTO in which the US may be forced to pay billions in compensation for its decision to renege on its trade obligations. The US would rather face such a situation than repeal UIGEA it would seem.
However, the British Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform has stepped up to the plate in an effort to drum up support for efforts within the US to do away with UIGEA by voicing the UK government’s support of regulation over prohibition when it comes to online gambling.
“The British Government has signaled quite clearly its support for regulation rather than prohibition,” said the British Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform’s private secretary Emily Bourne.
I’m sure most in the free online bingo games industry would support this stance by the UK government. Whether it has any actual real effect on US policy is an entirely different matter.

With world stock markets behaving like they are on crack cocain and currency exchanges like they need prozac, trying to understand what is happening in the economy is becoming more and more of a crap shoot as this year draws to a close.
Every day we hear more and more frightening stories about housing crashes, another Northern rock bank failure and the possibilities we are heading into a recession. So what gives?
The answer to that is I don’t have a clue, which puts me in the same company as such economic titans as Chancellor Darling, the PM, Mr Bernanke over in the US and various other captains of finance. However, I have an advantage over these suckers that gives me a whole different perspective on how to deal with these things – it’s called online bingo.
Stay with me on this…
The key here is mental toughness. People who play online bingo regularly face the nail-biting anxiety of wondering what life will throw up next. With every number a random event, we have trained ourselves to respond quickly and efficiently once the number is known. We are not fazed when the number is not the one we are waiting for. How many people working the markets can say the same thing as they await whatever interest rate cut the Bank of England decides to throw out?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying bingo online is substitute for understanding the complexities of modern economics, but I do believe online bingo games provide more of a chance at having fun than what we see passing for economic news today. And the rewards are often better than mere .25% cut in interest rates.
If things do start to get worse in the so-called real world, be assured Bingo Street is still going to be here to provide online bingo players with an escape from the doom and gloom and a chance that you may walk away a whole lot richer.

I don’t actually follow US domestic politics all that much, except when it affects online bingo. Of course, that means I’ve been following it more than usual in the last year since the implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passed.
The huge damage that UIGEA wrecked amongst online bingo operators and US customers who play online bingo is a matter of record – suffice to say we in the online bingo industry are still feeling the effects to this day.
So when the ruling Republican Party in the US decides to reward online gambling’s arch-nemesis with a promotion, it seems that a return to doing business in the US market is a long way off.
Republican Senator Jon Kyl hates online gambling and will do anything he can to ensure Arizona’s horse racing industry does not suffer any competition from that quarter. Now that he’s the Republican minority whip (an odd, if somewhat provocative title) it would appear his anti-online gambling stance will enjoy more influence than ever.
As the days go by I become more and more pessimistic about the chances for bingo online’s return to a US market in which we can all enjoy a level playing field.

Swedish gambling group Unibet has obviously seen the writing on the wall and decided to focus a good part of its expansion on the online bingo sector if its latest acquisition is anything to go by.
Proud new owners of the mariabingo.com and bingo.se online bingo halls, Unibet have made the savvy call in targeting the female population with its new bingo online presence. In a previous post I mentioned that Unibet might be on the prowl for free online bingo operations and here we have the proof.
“With this acquisition we will strengthen our position in the Nordic region as well as within the fast growing online bingo market. Unibet is today the leading private gaming company among men, and with this acquisition we will also be leading among women,” said Unibet CEO Peter Nylander.
Regular readers will remember Mr Nylander as the victim of a dubious anti-online gambling arrest warrant issued by the French government and executed by the Dutch police. However, it doesn’t seem to have stopped him and his company making what I believe is a very sound investment in online bingo games. More power to him and Unibet’s forward-looking vision.

It’s come to my attention that in the world of US politics it seems to be a very profitable enterprise to oppose online gambling, and therefore by association online bingo.
An article posted on Gambling Web has highlighted the fact that anti-online gambling hero Congressman Bob Goodlatte of Virgina has received just under $40,000 in campaign funds from non other than that bastion of social morality, the horse racing industry.
Horse racing benefits from current anti-online legislation (UIGEA) in the US due to unfair carve-outs for US Internet betting operations that exclude international operators.
The problem here is that Goodlatte seems to be an ardent supporter of the idea that online gambling represents an immoral threat to American society, unless, of course, if it’s betting online on US horse racing. No ‘moral hazard’ there it seems.
Now, god forbid that free online bingo operators would ever consider paying bribes ,… I mean contributions,… to fine, upstanding US Congressmen in order to influence the course of US legislation. After all, Goodlatte is only engaging in that old adage of ‘horses for courses’ when it comes to going with the flow.
All I can say is that, if this Goodlatte thing is true, then the US horse racing industry obviously fear online bingo and people who play online bingo – enough to feel the need to pay ‘contributions’ to US politicians whose $40,000 concern is the moral wellbeing of those they truly represent.

In case any of you wondered how I am constantly capable of coming up with my amazing insights into the development and direction of the online bingo industry, may I recommend that you consider the latest edition of the Internet Gambling Report (IGR).
While this publication has now become an industry standard thanks to the comprehensive coverage of all sectors affecting online gaming, I doubt very many online bingo operators (or bingo online players for that matter) have exposed themselves to the in-depth coverage the IGR provides.
This is a 661 page report that I think is essential for those free online bingo operators looking to gain a fully grounded perspective of our industry and how it fits into the overall online gambling sector. While I cover much of the issues right here in Joe’s Blog, and you can find the same level of coverage in Bingo Street’s news section, it doesn’t hurt to arm yourself with a few more perspectives as offered by the IGR.
People who play online bingo should also be interested in a copy of this report. It provides information on many of the more social issues affecting online bingo games, such as age verification and advertising practices, subjects that we should all be interested in.
In closing, all I can say is that online bingo is part of a world-wide phenomenon that is online gambling and the IGR helps put many of the issues faced by our industry into greater perspective.

Land-based bingo operators continue to make the news with latest reports in the UK mainstream media claiming the gaming company has sold a 10% stake to a Malaysian-based company with interests in Stanely Casinos.
If the deal is correct, it actually signals that things are not going to well for companies involved in land-based bingo as the double tax and smoking ban issues start to bite into their profits.
I’m not sure at this stage why the Malaysian outfit that purchased this 10% stake did so, but I am sure of one thing – online bingo games operators are doing a whole lot better than their land-based bingo cousins and the free online bingo community continues to grow while land-based players decline in numbers.
Could the purchasing of a stake in Rank be the signal of a turnaround in the company’s fortunes, or is it the circling of the vultures over a dying business model?

The recent ATE Online report over concerns at land-based bingo company Premier Bingo that the future of its industry is ‘uncertain’ comes as no surprise.
Already we are seeing land-based bingo halls shutting down with estimates suggesting as much as 100 bingo hall may close due to excessive taxation and a smoking ban which curtails their customer base.
In the meantime, online bingo’s future looks very certain, with online bingo games and online bingo halls going from strength to strength. The customer shift to bingo online has not yet been quantified, but the writing is definitely on the wall: Would a change to the tax system and smoking ban affecting land-based bingo really arrest the trend towards free online bingo?
I don’t believe this is the case and, if by some miracle, land-based bingo got its tax breaks and a lifting of the smoking ban, I doubt it really would make all that much difference over the long term.
